Supplement Manufacturing with Purpose: Barosa Labs Joins a Humanitarian Project in Kenya

Barosa Labs on a mission for the most vulnerable

In a global context where social responsibility and sustainability have become fundamental pillars of business growth, Barosa Labs, a leader in contract manufacturing of food supplements, is stepping forward by joining Project Kenya, a charitable mission that aims to transform lives in the heart of the African continent. We firmly believe in the power of solidarity, cooperation and humanity as engines of change.

This July, a group of volunteers from Granada, together with the association Salud sin Horizontes, will travel to Lokichar, in the remote Rift Valley, Kenya. Their goal: to set up field hospitals, care for children with disabilities, provide inclusive education, and build sustainable health and educational infrastructure. And on this crucial trip will also be Lore and Charo, as ambassadors of our commitment to life, dignity and global health.

Project Kenya: inclusion, health and education in Lokichar

Project Kenya, driven by the Granada-based association Salud sin Horizontes and supported by Barosa Labs through our colleagues, has a clear objective: to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities and disadvantaged communities in the Lokichar area of northern Kenya. A place where more than 90% of minors with disabilities have no access to school — children with conditions such as spina bifida, hydrocephalus and other illnesses that hinder their development in an already complex environment.

The expedition will visit at least four remote villages, where they will work alongside local leaders to create medical and educational structures that remain long after their stay.

Key objectives:

  • Prenatal and postnatal check-ups to prevent disabilities.
  • Adapted physiotherapy for children with cerebral palsy, spina bifida or blindness.
  • Inclusive education and job training for young people and adults.
  • Construction and improvement of health and school facilities.
  • Promotion of personal autonomy and community awareness.

Female leadership

Lore and Charo travel to Kenya committed to change. Lore is empathetic, resilient and able to find solutions even in the most hostile environments. Her ability to listen, organise and prioritise is a key human asset on this mission. She has a natural talent for creating collaborative environments, building trust with communities and providing reassurance even in the face of adversity.

Charo, for her part, has a sensitivity that has led her to take an active part in social causes for years, and on this occasion she will bring her knowledge of health and safety to the field — but also her tenderness, her adaptability and her positive energy, which make her an emotional pillar of the team.

Both embody what we at Barosa understand as human leadership: people who take action, who care and who inspire.

How to help

The materials collection campaign is still active, organised by Salud sin Horizontes. Drop-off points and partner companies are being coordinated to ensure that all materials arrive before the trip to Kenya.

What’s needed:

  • Medical supplies: gauze, nappies, basic medicines, powdered milk…
  • School supplies: notebooks, pencils, backpacks, paints…
  • Sports equipment: balls, shirts, trainers…

Drop-off point in Granada:

• At Barosa Labs – Parque Tecnológico de la Salud, Av. de la Innovación 1, Nave 5, 18100 Granada
• At Advanced Healthes – Av. de la Ilustración 101

Sustainability as a cross-cutting theme

Talking about sustainability is not just about the environment. For us, sustainability also means justice, equity and legacy. At Barosa Labs we work from a broad and deep vision of sustainability: we believe in a company that not only produces, but questions how and why it does so.

That is why we are committed to respectful materials, to processes that minimise our footprint, to ingredients that care and do no harm. But also to projects like this one, where sustainability becomes social action, support for vulnerable communities, and an active contribution to a future with more opportunities.

Supporting this humanitarian mission also means sustaining the lives of those who have been made invisible. It means creating impact on realities that don’t appear on balance sheets, but which are the true measure of what a company is worth. Because if we are only sustainable within our own facilities, we are not truly sustainable. Sustainability, like health, must cross borders.
